When I was young, my family would go camping in Northern California. One time, we went on a nighttime hike with the other campers in the state park. We were told to bring our flashlights, but were advised that we would be turning them off at some point to let our eyes adjust and walk by the moonlight. The leader of the hike told us during that time, we would need to pass any info or warnings down the line of our large group, like a game of telephone. Well, one of the hikers didn’t pass along the warning that there was a tree root in the path, and the next hiker tripped. Without light or guidance, it was just a matter of time before someone fell.
This experience shows us how important light is to finding our way! The Bible can provide the light we need to navigate our way through life. If we don’t shine the wisdom of the Bible onto our path, we are more likely to stumble. When we are going through particularly hard times, it is even more important to find the guidance and the support that God’s Word brings.
Father, I pray that we would not neglect Your precious Word as we walk through life. Help us to cherish Your Word and depend on it daily. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
