We live in a town with a thriving tourist industry, but truly for only three seasons of the year. When summers roll around at 120+ degrees Fahrenheit, many people stop visiting and some residents leave town if they can. We are usually in town for most of the summer, so we figure out ways to manage being here. We know that cooler weather is coming back around again.
Persevering through the harder parts of the year gets us through to the easier parts of the year. The seasons do come and go. And for the most part, so do our problems. A change in perspective can help us through the trials that come up in our lives. Being thankful and praising God can provide that change.
Philippians 4:4 says, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.” We should be thankful and grateful to the Lord because of what He has done, right? It’s the right thing to do. But He also wants us to rejoice so that we will remember what He has done, and that He will do it again. Rejoicing reminds us of His faithfulness, His goodness, and His provision.
Lord, We thank You that there are so many reasons to rejoice! Remind us of them when we are so focused on our trials. Help us to be more thankful each day. In Your Name, Amen.
