“But God is good.” I’ve heard this from many people under a wide range of circumstances. Some use this to highlight all the blessings they have in their lives, thinking that God must be good for them to have so much. But the people I remember most vividly are the ones who have said it in the face of calamity. Whether it was the death of someone they cherished, a diagnosis they never wanted, a relationship that fell apart, they still clung to God and trusted Him to get them through this hard time.
2 Corinthians 9:14-15 NIV reminds us, “And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” Those who trust God to be good in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges are clinging to that grace that God gave them through Jesus Christ. The gift of Jesus Christ is our hope for salvation but also our hope in this life. We only need to accept this gift to receive His grace.
Father, Thank you that You loved us so much that You gave us Jesus. Please help us to accept Your beautiful and amazing grace in our lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
