Waiting for life to start.
Waiting until things get better.
Waiting until this person comes through for me.
Waiting until God answers my prayer.
There’s all kinds of waiting, but one of the most difficult things to wait for is God’s answer to the cry of your heart. Maybe your heart has been broken by a friend, a significant other, a set of circumstances. And you are reaching out to God. Please, God! Fix this! Make this pain leave and for things to get back to normal. I just need this, God!
And yes, God can change that heart or that circumstance. He moves mountains, for goodness’ sake! But sometimes it isn’t right away, and sometimes it isn’t at all. While we wait for God to answer our prayers in the way He intends, what do we do?
– We continue to pray (Psalm 40:1)
– We don’t try to manipulate the situation (Proverbs 14:12)
– We praise Him (James 1:2-4)
– We have hope and trust that He will answer the prayers according to His will. (Job 13:15, Philippians 4:19)
We serve a loving God who cares about us. I don’t think He relishes to see us in pain! But sometimes there are painful times in our journey that change us into who God wants us to be. We’d rather avoid them. But in most cases, we need the lessons that this pain teaches us.
Have hope, dear friends! He is worthy of our trust and our hope.
Psalm 40:1 ESV “I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.”
Father, We pray that we will have your heart and your perspective when we pray. Help us to rest in Your perfect plan and Your perfect ways. Give us the strength we need as we wait! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
