During a trial, what do we reach for? In what do we trust?
Some trust in their money.
Others trust in numbing the pain.
Some trust in someone else fixing it for them.
These “gods” that we trust in, whether they be wealth, distraction, or another person, may feel good for a while. But they ultimately do not satisfy.
Psalm 135:5 ESV tells us, “For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.”
What we trust in shows what we worship.
We must regularly examine our lives, that our interests, comforts, and belongings have not become our idols. Our Lord is so much more powerful, holy, and fulfilling than anyone or anything here on earth. May our lives reflect that truth!
Lord, we pray that we will see Your power and marvel in it. We ask forgiveness for things or people that we have worshipped in some way. We pray that our worship will glorify You and You alone! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
