John the Baptist didn’t consider himself worthy enough to untie Jesus’ sandals. Isaiah saw God and cried, “I am ruined!” Moses hid his face from God. When we truly encounter God, we often see our lack and how we are not worthy.
In 1 Thessalonians 2:12 ESV, Paul encourages believers to do something that may seem impossible. “…encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.”
We may look at that standard and assume that we have already failed. That life is too hard to live a life worthy of God. Why even try?
Yet God knows we will not meet that standard. Thankfully, He offers the solution. Both are summed up in Romans 3:23-24 ESV. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
God calls us worthy as He looks at us through the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross.
We have been redeemed from our sin. In His grace, He gives us an opportunity to accept that redemption. If you haven’t made a decision to accept that gift, I urge you to think it over. https://peacewithgod.net/ does a great job of explaining what salvation is and how you can have it in your life.
Through the hard times, the easy times, and all the times in between, God is there for us.
God, We are not worthy on our own. We thank You that You see us through Jesus. We pray that we would reflect Jesus in our lives every day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
