31 Days: “Consistent”

I try to wake up every morning and exercise. I’m not going on 20 mile runs or doing Crossfit. I am mostly doing light cardio videos that many people would be able to do. I know it’s good for my health, and I also notice my mood is better when I am consistent in doing this, rather than blowing it off. Yet I just had several days without it. It was tempting to throw in the towel today, but I had a good, firm talk with myself and worked out anyway. I was glad I did. But I don’t always make that choice.
.
I’m a person who is going to make mistakes. I’m going to let myself down, I’m going to disappoint other people, and I am not going to be perfect. I don’t say these things as an excuse to shortchange or sin against others, but instead, to extend grace to myself and others. The only One who is perfect is God! He is consistent, faithful, and dependable.
.
Psalm 86:15 (NLT) “But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.”
.
Deuteronomy 7:9 (NIV) “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.”
.
2 Timothy 2:13 (NASB) “If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.”
.
Thank the Lord today for who He is, and that we can trust our faithful and consistent God!
