As noted in yesterday’s post, “Same”, hospitality is not a gift that I find easy. Being more of an introvert than an extrovert, I prefer one-on-one or smaller groups than large parties or big groups. Yet I think that the definition of hospitality can be extended past “she hosts Christmas dinner” or “we can have the Bible Study party at her house”.
Three keys to hospitality can be: listening, showing kindness, and being generous. What does that look like in your life? For me, it might mean meeting someone for coffee for a listening ear and picking up the check. For others, it could mean making someone feel comfortable at a group event like a wedding, a baby shower, or a church function. For another, it could mean opening your house to everyone you know.
Be willing to think outside the box for how you can gather people together for God’s glory. “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” 2 Corinthians 13:14 ESV
