Across the world from me, there are people who hide small pieces of paper, hoping that they will not be discovered. They memorize the information, and pass along the dangerous pages to another person in their network. If they are detected, they will not only go to jail or die, but their whole family could be rounded up, whether or not they were involved.
This is not the plot of a Cold War movie or a spy thriller, but the reality for Christians who live in countries where Christians are persecuted. Over the years, I’ve heard some of their stories through Open Doors USA (opendoorsusa.org)
Many, if not most, of my readers are from the United States, where we enjoy an immense amount of religious freedom. It is not perfect, but we have the freedom to help those who need the Word of God. Wherever you are, remind yourself that God’s Word is precious and powerful! It is a lamp to our feet, and a light unto our path (Ps. 119:105). It is God-breathed (2 Tim. 3:16). It endures forever (Isaiah 40:8).
Enjoy the gift that God’s Word is to you today.
