“We’ve got a problem.”
These words can strike fear in your heart. Sometimes, that phrase precedes words you’ve only imagined in your worst nightmares.
“It was a heart attack.”
“You have cancer.”
“I don’t love you anymore.”
Broken, we want to know the why, the how, the when. At the end of the day, though, we are left with the problem, our questions, the circumstance, that painful thing out of our control. And we may be grieving the object of our loss – a spouse, health, money. But in that grief? Don’t give up hope.
Romans 15:13 NKJV “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Colossians 3:1-2 ESV “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
Philippians 1:6 NASB “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”
We have hope in the Creator of the universe, by the power of the Holy Spirit. And our ultimate hope is not in the happiness, security, or circumstances of our life on earth, but in God’s will and our life with Him eternally. God will work this out – maybe not on your timetable, maybe not the way you would do it, maybe not even on this earth. But He will work this out according to His perfect will!
I don’t know what kind of problem you face today. I don’t know how long you’ve been dealing with it or how difficult it is for you to persevere. But we serve a loving God who will sustain us through those problems. Will you trust Him to do that today?
