8 Truths about Joy

Joy comes from the Holy Spirit

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 ESV

There is joy in God’s presence

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11 ESV

There is joy in God’s protection

“For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.” Psalm 63:7 ESV

There may be weeping, but joy is on its way

“Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!” Psalm 126:5 ESV

Joy without action is fleeting

“And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away.” Luke 8:13 ESV

Our joy comes from Christ as we keep His commandments

“If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” John 15:10-11 ESV

God gives us joy in believing in Him.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13 ESV

There is joy even in trials

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” James 1:2 ESV
