A Week of Finding Joy: What

Besides chasing this world’s joy and happiness, we also can be tempted to pursue this world’s peace. Older readers may remember “Calgon, take me away!”, trying to sell us peace in the form of bath bubbles. A harried woman would utter those words, then be magically transported to a peaceful bubble bath, her troubles instantly gone. Even watching that commercial as a kid, I knew that was no solution to what she was up against.

The world’s solutions to give you peace in spite of today’s problems fall short, too. And we can’t wish away our problems, which simply doesn’t work. Instead, we can accept that we will have problems but we can also hope, have peace, and find joy in the Lord. John 16:33 ESV “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Yes, we will have trouble in this world, but God is on His throne. We can find our peace and joy in Him.

Thanks for joining me on this weeklong journey of finding joy!
