I grew up wanting to be a writer, but prepared to study business, instead. It seemed like a good path to get a fancy job. But majoring in business was not a good fit, and I ended up majoring in English instead, with an emphasis in creative writing. While I didn’t formally use either of these areas of study in my job, I have seen over the years how God has used what I learned in both areas to serve Him.
Romans 8:28 NIV says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” As we consider God’s purpose for us, it is so useful to stop and reflect to see how this has proven true in your life up to this point. An earlier hardship helps you encourage someone. A difficult task that He brought you through prepares you for the next step He wants you to take. This reflection can remind your heart that He will, again, work all things for the good of those who love Him.
Father, You do work all things together for the good of those who love You. Thank you for redeeming past difficulties for our good. We love you! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
