Hope in Christ

Hope is such a beautiful word. It is different from the word “wish”. “Wish” has the feeling of fairytales, of releasing a thought out to something mysterious and thinking it might come true. “Hope”, in general, puts faith in a person, object, or institution to bring forth a result.

When we put our hope in money, it may feel good for now. But fortunes can be won or lost in a single day.

When we put our hope in another person to provide for all your needs, you are asking them to be a perfect person, forever. No person can do that. Eventually, you will be let down.

When we put our hope in Christ, we put our hope in the One who is worthy! Putting our hope in imperfect things will disappoint us. He is worthy of our hope!

Revelation 4:11 NASB tells us “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.” We can put our hope in our worthy Lord, even through hard trials.

When traversing difficult times, my husband likes to say to me, “This is the middle of the testimony.” While the end of the story to a particular hurt or trial hasn’t happened yet, when you can’t tie a pretty bow and talk about the redeemed relationship, the happy ending, or even just the conclusion of the hardest time in your life, you can take comfort in the fact that there is still hope for what you have been praying for. Setting aside your original expectations, and exchanging your will for the situation for God’s perfect will, can help you through challenging times.

May you find your hope in God today!

I am participating in Hope*Writer’s 5 day Instagram Challenge. Today’s word was “hope.”
