#HopewriterLife Challenge: Courage

View this post on Instagram

“For you, O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, have made this revelation to your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house.’ Therefore your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to you.” 2 Samuel 7:27 ESV In looking up the word “courage” in the Bible, I was intrigued when I found this instance in 2 Samuel 7. Earlier in the chapter, the Lord makes a covenant with David, and David responds with a prayer of gratitude. Because of God’s revelation, David prays that it will be done. David could have courage because he was praying according to what God told him through the prophet Nathan. If you are finding it difficult to pray for something “big”, especially something that you felt God led you to do, compare it to what God has said. Praying according to Scripture can provide a reality check. – Am I pursuing this for my own desires or for God? – Am I trying to do this on my own power or through God’s strength? – Am I chasing something that isn’t right in the first place? Be courageous in your prayers when you pray according to His Word. I am using the #hopewriterlife challenge to encourage others onto love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24).
