Before the situations we need God to change.
Before the requests we bring to Him in prayer.
Before the list of people we are praying for.
Pause and praise Him.
Psalm 95:2 NKJV tells us, “Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.” When we approach God in prayer, what better way than to remind ourselves of the nature of Who we are praying to, than to praise the Lord for Who He is! We are asking Him to forgive us, to strengthen us, and to answer our prayers. What better way to start off prayer than to look at Who He is?
Let’s celebrate who our Lord is today by praising Him!
Note: One resource I recommend for this is “Mom’s Little Book of Powerful Prayers” by Fern Nichols, founder of Moms in Prayer. Each chapter focuses on an attribute of God, encouraging the reader to praise Him for it, and to pray for the children in her life along that theme. I have also enjoyed another Moms in Prayer book, “Start with Praise“, by Sally Burke and Cyndie Claypool de Neve.
