I was surprised at how many verses are asking God to let Him or His face shine upon them. I am most familiar with Numbers 6:24-26 NASB, as we sang it as a doxology for many years.
“The Lord bless you, and keep you;
The Lord cause His face to shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His face to you,
And give you peace.”
In Exodus 33, Moses asks to see God’s presence. God tells Moses He can’t see His face, for “for no one may see me and live.” (Exodus 33:20b). The physical presence of the Lord being so dangerous is an indication of the power found in Him.
Do we treat God as powerful? Or do we try to get the job done ourselves, and just throw in a prayer because it seems we should? Our God can do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.” (Ephesians 3:20 NASB) Let God change your heart to recognize His power and to live your life accordingly.
I am participating in the #hopewriterlife challenge this week. “Shine” was today’s prompt.
